Tribute to Arnold Mindell

It is with utmost sadness that we process and grieve Arnold Mindell’s passing on June 10^th, 2024. Arny, our founder, began developing Process Oriented Psychology in the late 1970s. His brilliant mind and heart, passionate research, teaching, and writing, his work with individuals and groups, and his playful spirit have inspired us deeply and touched the lives of thousands of people around the world. We are very moved by the multitude of loving and thankful testimonials, thoughts, and feelings that have poured in from the international Process Work community and larger world. As Amy Mindell said: “It’s so heartwarming to feel how Arny’s work, life, and spirit will live on in all your hearts and through the work each of you do in the world, fulfilling one of Arny’s deepest wishes – to make the world a better place for all. 

To his core, Arny has always been a pragmatic researcher who, through combining physics and psychology — and with his uncanny ability to follow and trust Process — always looked at better ways to ease the world and human condition. It led him to develop the Dreambody concept and approach, to expand individual psychology to include group dynamics and worldwork, and much more, and to be the inspiration and motor for an ever-expanding international network of Process Work practitioners and training centers around the world. The International Association of Process-oriented Psychology (IAPOP) will always be deeply indebted to him. 

While Arny may not be here in his physical body, we know that he will always be with us. As he said, “We are not alive or dead, but an ongoing process.” So, he is here and will continue to help us move into the future as we carry his rich legacy into the world, each in our own way.
